In Search of Home

Liz Craven is a lifelong Lutheran and retired nurse anesthetist. She moved to Winston-Salem in 1970 to pursue her career at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. As with any move, she was looking for a faith community that felt like home. For Liz, a faith home is one that helps her feel tethered to God through music and through connections with the people.

Liz visited Augsburg for about a year before becoming a member. Liz felt a connection to the pastors and the music. She also felt a connection to the members who are now her family. She is confident she could call on many people at Augsburg in a time of need. The music program and serving in the choir are fulfilling and meaningful.

“Singing the words of hymns, psalms, anthems, and the liturgy as a choir member proves to build my faith,” she shared. “It is a powerful experience. Augsburg sustains me and builds my faith while keeping me centered and tethered to God. Augsburg is my home on earth.”
