Sharing God’s Promise

I’m Jean Brickhouse.

I joined Augsburg in 1982, just before getting married. My husband was already a member. I wanted to belong to a church that offered individuals and families a way to grow in personal faith, and to serve the congregation and greater community just as Jesus commanded Peter to “feed my sheep”. (John 21:15-17)

Over the years, with each new ministry I joined, my feelings for Augsburg as my church home deepened. Raising children in the church and helping with their ministries, participating in women’s groups, serving on church council, and as a Stephen Leader all allowed me to grow, to meet new people, and expand my “family.”

I appreciate that Augsburg consistently proclaims the Gospel. Its wide range of opportunities enables us to serve and share God’s promise through the example of Christ. I know that our financial support makes possible all these opportunities. Without the support of members, ministry cannot grow. I am able to see how our contributions are used to support ministries.

My greatest hope for the future is that Augsburg will continue to be a place for individuals and families to grow in faith and to serve ALL of God’s people in their varying and ever-changing needs.

I have been a member for 40 years; my husband, Blaine, has been a member for 46 years. Our children, Bryan and Nora, were baptized and raised in Augsburg, and we have two grandchildren.
