Augsburg ministries thrive with an active, involved congregation.

Augsburg Lutheran Church is a lay led congregation, meaning that the congregation is active and involved in every aspect of the congregation’s ministries. The people of the congregation are referred to as disciples. We are individually and together following Jesus in paths of ministry.

Congregation Council is composed of twenty-one (21) people who are elected by the congregation. Each year seven people are elected to a three-year term. In December of each year, the newly seated council selects officers by ecclesiastical ballot. The officers comprise the executive committee that works closely with the pastor(s) and program staff to guide the council in their deliberations.

The remaining members of congregation council are assigned chair and co-chair responsibilities to lead the standing committees during that year. People are encouraged to volunteer and chairs also recruit to build ministry teams. In this way, the ministry teams are refreshed with a mix of new ideas and energy and experienced continuity for the work that they will do during the year, and from year to year.

Adhoc and task committees and groups tackle one-time events and ongoing ministry tasks within the congregation and in the community.

Core Values:

We embrace sacramental identity.

We pray for and care for God’s people.

We promote and encourage faith formation and Christian education throughout life.

We celebrate innovation and evolution in our faith community that is not at the expense of our other core values and is not done solely for the sake of change.

We strongly believe in lay ministry and high engagement. Discipleship and fellowship are important to us.

We will be inclusive in our ministry, growth, and outreach.
