Augsburg Welcomes the Rev. Katie Bryant to the Ministry Staff

Rev. Katie B. Bryant
Rostered Minister for Youth & Emerging Ministries

Augsburg Lutheran Church is excited to share that the Rev. Katie Bryant has been called by the People of Augsburg to serve as the Rostered Minister for Youth and Emerging Ministries.

After an extensive call process, the Call Committee determined that Katie is best suited to serve God in this unique role, which includes youth and young adult ministry, evangelism, outreach, and “emerging ministries” – another way of saying what God has in store for the future.

“Katie’s many gifts perfectly equip her to shepherd our youth and emerging ministries.”

Kristen Zeller, Call Committee Chairperson

Katie comes to Augsburg with seventeen years of experience in church ministry built  on a foundation of formal theological training. She has served as an associate pastor in several congregations, however her recent ministry focus has been children and outreach. Her work in ministry has clearly focused on connecting the church with the world and working to equip others to live an active and caring Christian life.

Her experiences in leadership with City with Dwellings and deep relationships with other local ministries will serve as a catalyst for Augsburg’s people to be more involved throughout the community.

Katie is an ordained Elder in Full Connection in the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. Her call to Augsburg celebrates the Full Communion relationship between the United Methodist Church and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America established in 2009 that recognizes the shared work of each church and opportunities for partnerships among clergy such as this one.

She holds a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School and a Bachelor of Science in Human Development from Auburn University. She is married and has two children.

“We are excited to partner with Katie as we explore all the ways that God inspires us to live out our baptismal covenant. Katie’s passion for the Bible and how to connect it to the lives of God’s people will be a daily blessing.”
